TWO YEARS LATER, MY FATHER'S LEGACY STILL LIVES ON

Updated: Mar 7, 2023

This month marks the second anniversary of the passing of my dad, Dr. Prophete. Our family, our friends, and the entire Haitian Christian Mission community is in remembrance of him and continues to press forward with the Kingdom-focused legacy that he and Betty started over 48 years ago. We are celebrating his body of work with renewed enthusiasm and dedication to push through the many challenges that we are facing in Haiti.

In Romans 12, it says that “when God’s people are in need, be ready to help them.” We are so grateful for our supporters who continue to faithfully pray for our staff, our youth, and our pastors in Haiti. Without your commitment to HCM we could not do all that we do in bringing hope to the communities that we serve.

In the last couple of weeks, there have been protests organized by the Haitian police over the killing of six officers by a group of gang members. We pray that those families involved find peace and comfort during these difficult times. We are thankful that our staff in Haiti remained out of harm’s way. Many HCM schools and activities are now resuming operations following this series of events. Your prayers and continued support are vital to our success in Haiti.

Our staff and board members in the States are always strategically working to assist and equip those who are on the ground in Haiti. There are a few leadership changes that will happen at the end of this month that we would like to share with you. Melia Douglass will be stepping down from her role as a paid employee of HCM. But we're excited to announce she'll be joining our Board of Directors, as of March 1, to help continue with the overall guidance and strategic objectives of the mission. Samuel Prophete has been appointed the new chairman of the board, and we appreciate that Mike Harenza will remain a board member after fulfilling his term in that office. Our new C.O.O. of U.S. Operations, Dan Reischel, which many of you will be seeing on the road this year, is already at work bringing strategic planning and outreach to spread the word about the mission. HCM continues to be blessed with God-fearing people that say “Yes” to the calling.

Thank you for saying yes to God and being ready to help the people of Haiti in their times of great need. We’re praying alongside you for God’s will to be done.

Edwens Prophete,

CEO
