Reflecting on the recent events in Haiti, it is impossible to ignore the country's immense challenges. Yet, amid the hardships God is showing us yet again that His love shines bright in the darkest places of the world. Your support has been a crucial part of this journey, and today, we want to share both the struggles and the triumphs that underscore the importance of HCM’s work in the communities we serve.
A Time of Sorrow
Recently, we were deeply saddened by the tragic passing of three fellow missionaries in Haiti, a loss that has touched the hearts of many in our community and across the world. Their passing serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of coming together to support one another during times of grief. Please keep the Baker and Lloyd families in your prayers, as well as the countless Haitian families that face this same pain and anguish from losing loved ones on a daily basis in Haiti.
Unrest and Perseverance
Last month, the Beudet Church Anniversary celebration was put on hold because of the ongoing unrest and gang violence in the area. This situation has brought sorrow to many church members who long for a return to normalcy. Despite these challenges, the church remains a source of hope and resilience. Pastor Dieudon and his congregation have started to resume church activities and worship services, albeit cautiously. They pray for the return of those who have had to leave and for the strength to continue their mission.
Celebrating Faith and Family
Amid difficulties, we have also witnessed inspiring moments of celebration and faith. Pastor Rosicler at First Christian Church of Port-au-Prince recently concluded a successful family conference. The event saw most church members come together to worship and celebrate, showing that faith remains unshaken even in times of uncertainty. Pastor Rosicler expressed immense gratitude to HCM’s supporters for the financial support that allowed them to pay their teachers. This act of generosity has opened doors for continued ministry and community building.
Similarly, the Fonds-Parisien Church held a remarkable family conference themed "A New Family for a New Society." Various speakers addressed important topics, and the event concluded with a wonderful service. In honor of HCM's 50th anniversary, Pastor Thomas and other leaders are planning a special event to commemorate this milestone. Their vision is to make this anniversary an unforgettable celebration of faith and community, and we are prayerfully asking for your support in this endeavor.
The Nan Plaisir Church also hosted a vibrant family conference. The church was filled to capacity, with church members choosing to stand to give visitors a place to sit. This overwhelming response has highlighted the need for a church extension. Pastors Omilus and Auchange are eager to move forward with expansion plans, needing only the blueprint to motivate their community.
In the town of Chapotin, despite the surrounding challenges, the school is functioning, providing much-needed stability and education for the children.
