An education gives each child
a real chance at breaking the cycle of poverty so prevalent in this
country. HCM schools give Haiti's young hope for a better tomorrow. The students
are taught reading, writing, arithmetic and other basic courses in French.
Each student takes the government's official test at the end of our
program. A Haitian child's thirst for knowledge is great and is hampered
only by physical hunger and poverty. Our goal is to place a school in every
city or village where an HCM church stands.

HCM's newest ministry, the
Superior Institute of Translation and Interpretation, opened in the year
2000. Located in Port-au-Prince, this post secondary school gives some of
our high school graduates an opportunity to learn English and develop a
valuable career skill. With translation skills, the students will have the
opportunity to get jobs as interpreters with UNICEF, USAID, CARE and
Christian organizations serving Haiti. Our ultimate goal is not simply to
offer career training, but to be able to place these Christian students in
contact with Haitian leaders and serve as a godly influence in the future
of Haiti. With additional gifts and support, HCM's long-term plans are to
build a separate facility for this new center.

HCM conducts a leadership
training program at least once a year for its pastors, teachers and church
workers. Bible school professors and pastors from the United States
volunteer their assistance to this ministry. Through the years, HCM
churches and schools have raised up new Christian leaders who now work as
teachers, nurses, pastors and administrators. They often serve HCM or other
Christian ministries in Haiti.
